Again, another month has nearly slipped away! Yesterday, I enjoyed being able to take part in a celebration for my father in law’s 80th birthday surprise party! His birthday isn’t until September 6th, but to pull off the element of surprise, it was celebrated earlier! His sister from Arizona and her husband flew in last week to join in the fun!
My dear sister in law Terri, has been working her tail off for months planning, gathering items and sending out invitations to really honor her dad! Many of the family members pitched in and my husband was in charge of getting his dad to the party without spilling the beans! He managed to do it and it was a great surprise to the birthday ‘boy’!
It was fun to see so many family members and friends turn out to wish Richard a happy 80th! His 1970 International tractor was even brought to the venue for photo ops!
Speaking of the venue, if you’ve not ever checked out the space that Brenda and Paul Gilsinger own over in Pulaski, across from their amazing museum and next to Bill and Babe’s Tavern, you should make a trip over there! They really did an excellent job renovating the building and the decor is fabulous to check out and investigate!
80 is a big birthday and I know Rich is happy to be able to celebrate it! Life passes quickly, even if you do make it to 80 and beyond! My husband’s grandmother is still living! She’ll be 96 in just a couple weeks! I can’t imagine that! My mother passed away at age 76. My father left this earth on his 83rd birthday. My brother died in his sleep at 51. So birthdays are precious to me and I’m so happy that my father in law was able to experience a really great party!
It was also wonderful because my Rachel and Kyle came up from Indy too! Always a bonus when I get to see my girl!
Last Saturday, she and I spent the day in Indy, going to the local farmers market in Broadripple, lunch and then candle making at Penn and Beech. We made candles last summer too. That’s a special day. With her moving away next summer, I will treasure those two memories for a long, long time.

Wonderful!! Pictures are all beautiful as well
